It’s Valentines Day, the daughter’s at the dance, soap is made, dishes are done and now we’re watching Antiques Roadshow. I got a rose, a wonderful card and some chocolate from the dh – very sweet of him!

I have 5 bar soaps curing in 3 different formulas. There’s one recipe that’s wonderful for very dry skin (very gentle and moisturizing) – one batch with cucumber mint (containing cucumber and mint for extra skin benefits) and the other with calendula petals and lavender essential oil. There’s a batch of mango butter soap fragranced with Cherry Blossom. Then, I have 2 batches of my 3 oil blend – one fragranced with Red Clover Tea and one with Cowboy (a unisex fragrance that can be used by men or women, but leans toward the male side and is totally wonderful!)

Lotions, balms and creams are fully stocked and ready to scent for friends. We’re working on some sugar scrubs, new formulas for hair conditioner and lip gloss, and keeping a few old favorites stocked. We’ll be changing the site around a bit and making a few improvements to our formulas to make them even more special and pampering for your skin.

I really love playing with soaps and lotions – the alchemy of putting together products that work for family and friends is a wonderful surprise every time.

Mom called – she took some of my soaps, lotions, etc with her to FL to sell at a craft show in her park. She called today to say that a number of my products sold fairly well to her friends. White Roses was a particular favorite among her friends, as was the cucumber-mint fragrance combination. The recession (or whatever you choose to call it) has hit in FL just like Michigan. Folks are holding tight to their money because we don’t know what’s coming our way.

Light is low, night is here. It’s the middle of December and we’re all waiting with baited breath to greet the holidays. Cookies, candies, soaps, lotions and holiday cheer to all! A great recipe for this time of year is a fudge recipe I found on-line called
Death By Chocolate Fudge:
3 c semi-sweet chocolate chips (choose your favorite)
2 oz (1/2 bar) bittersweet or unsweetened chocolate
14 oz (1 can) sweetened condensed milk
2 1/2 tsp vanilla
Line an 8″ square pan with waxed paper. Melt the chocolate, vanilla and milk in a double boiler. Once melted, add nuts if desired, and pour into prepared pan. Refrigerate 2 hours or until firm. Cut and serve when firm.

Wishing you all a safe and joyous holiday season and a wonderful new year full of all the things you want and need!
